The first and easiest tip to follow is word of mouth, be sure to tell all your friends, family and coworkers about your new business venture. Word of mouth is the best form of advertisement. The more people that know about your business and the services you offer, the better. And hey, it’s free!!
The next tip, which I consider one of the most important is to establish an online presence. You can do this by creating a free google my business listing. Creating a google listing gives your business the ability to come up in local notary searches. Click here to see how my business appears on Google Maps after a Notary near me search. Google also provides a free one page website, which can be linked to your listing. Some other free or low cost sites/ search engines to advertise your business on are:
- 411
- Alignable
- Yelp
- Thumbtack
- Nextdoor
- Bing
- Yahoo
Online Presence is Important!
Having an online presence allows potential customers to find you. Building a simple website with SEO optimization will ensure that your site is on the front page of an Internet search result. Also, using social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram gets your business out in front of people you might not normally meet during your everyday routine. Make certain that when you use social media, your posts are relevant, consistent and timely. Discuss the services you offer. List your times of operation, the locations you service, and your contact information.
Advertise locally to businesses that may be able to utilize your mobile Notary services. Let them know about the services you provide and your willingness to help with their notary needs. Be sure to leave some business cards so they’ll know how to contact you.
Where to Advertise Your Notary Services:
- Hospitals
- Jails
- Schools
- Banks
- Car Dealerships
- Insurance Offices
- Adoption Agencies
- Nursing Homes
- Senior/ Assisted living facilities
- Law Offices
- UPS/ FedEx/ Post Office
While some of the suggested locations may generally have Notaries on site, such as banks, UPS, law offices, etc. The Notary may be out of the office at times; and often banks employees are unable to notarize certain document for various reasons. Usually due the company’s involvement or direct interest in the document being notarized. You never know when your services may be needed, so advertise, advertise, advertise! Don’t forget to give out pens with your company’s info, make flyers, create clothing with your company logo. Be a walking advertisement for your business!!
Lastly, don’t forget to network with other notaries in your area. As well as Notaries outside of your specific coverage area. You can refer business to one another when you’re unavailable or for areas you don’t cover. Also, networking provides you with the opportunity to brainstorm with other notaries, which can be very beneficial for your business.
